LIFE AT SOLDEN HILL HOUSE

Music, Performance & Creative Expression.

Music has the power to bring people together, build confidence and create moments of pure joy. At Solden Hill House, music and the performing arts play an important role in everyday life, providing opportunities for creativity, self-expression, friendship and unforgettable experiences.

Across our homes, residents enjoy a wide variety of musical activities, from relaxed listening sessions and singing together to playing instruments, writing songs and experimenting with rhythm and sound. Our dedicated music room provides a welcoming space where people can explore different instruments, improvise freely and simply enjoy making music in a fun, supportive environment.

Everyone is encouraged to take part in a way that feels right for them. Whether someone enjoys keeping a steady beat on a drum, singing along to a favourite song, learning a new instrument or simply listening and joining in with friends, every contribution is valued and celebrated.

Music is also a powerful way for people to communicate, express emotions and share experiences. For some, it provides another way to connect with others beyond spoken words, helping to build confidence, encourage participation and strengthen relationships.

Our love of music extends far beyond our own homes. Residents regularly enjoy live concerts, musical performances and trips to the theatre, giving them the opportunity to experience the excitement of live entertainment and discover new performers and productions.

Many residents also take part in inclusive performing arts opportunities within the local community, including The Cube Performing Arts and Born to Perform, where they can develop their talents, build confidence and perform alongside others in welcoming and supportive environments.

For those who love to dance and socialise, Rockin' Roadrunner provides fantastic club nights and music festivals created specifically for adults with learning disabilities, while Limitless Banbury offers a friendly and inclusive space where people of all abilities can enjoy music, sensory-friendly activities and opportunities to make new friends.

Whether performing on stage, enjoying a live concert, dancing with friends or simply singing along to a favourite song, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the happiness, confidence and sense of belonging that music can bring.

Arts & Crafts

Creativity is a wonderful way to express ourselves, explore new ideas and celebrate our individuality. At Solden Hill House, arts and crafts are enjoyed throughout the year, giving people the opportunity to create, learn new skills and take pride in producing something that's uniquely their own.

Whether painting a canvas, designing seasonal decorations, making personalised gifts, creating colourful bunting for celebrations or trying a completely new craft, every project is shaped around the interests, abilities and imagination of the individual. There is no right or wrong way to be creative—it's about enjoying the process, building confidence and having fun.

Arts and crafts also provide valuable opportunities to develop concentration, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills, all within a relaxed and supportive environment. Many activities are linked to the changing seasons, national celebrations and special events, giving residents the chance to contribute to decorating their homes and marking important occasions together.

Our creative sessions are often social occasions where friends come together to share ideas, encourage one another and celebrate each other's achievements. Whether working independently or as part of a group project, everyone is supported to take part in a way that suits them.

Many of the things our residents create are proudly displayed throughout our homes, shared with family and friends or used during celebrations and community events. Seeing finished artwork on display provides a real sense of achievement and reminds everyone that creativity comes in many different forms.

At Solden Hill House, we believe creativity should be accessible to everyone. Every brushstroke, every handmade decoration and every finished project tells a story, celebrates individuality and helps people express who they are.
