The Lodges provide supported living within the grounds of Solden Hill House, designed to help people develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to take greater control of everyday life.
Created with independence at their heart, The Lodges offer a supportive environment where residents can experience the responsibilities and rewards of managing their own home while having personalised support available when they need it.
Residents are encouraged to take an active role in everyday living, from planning meals, shopping and cooking to housekeeping, managing routines and making decisions about how they spend their time. Living alongside housemates also provides opportunities to develop friendships, communication skills and the confidence that comes from sharing a home with others.
With six placements, including a step-down flat, support can evolve as people's skills, confidence and aspirations develop. For some residents, The Lodges can provide an important step towards even greater independence and, where appropriate, the ambition of eventually living in a home of their own.
Residents also benefit from being part of the wider Solden Hill House community, with opportunities to enjoy the Bluebell Café, gardening, fitness, music and creative activities, countryside walks and social events, alongside an active life within the wider community.
The communal kitchen and lounge provide welcoming spaces to cook, relax and spend time together, while residents are equally encouraged to pursue their own interests, friendships and routines.
Above all, The Lodges are about possibility and progression—supporting each person at their own pace to develop skills, make choices and build a life with greater independence.
There isn't really a "typical" week at The Lodges because residents are supported to develop their own routines and make choices about how they spend their time.
A week might include:
Planning meals and doing the weekly food shop
Preparing meals independently or with support
Taking responsibility for household tasks
Visiting local cafés, shops and restaurants
Swimming, gym sessions or keeping active outdoors
Going for walks and exploring the local community
Meeting friends and enjoying social activities
Gardening, creative activities or pursuing individual hobbies
Enjoying days out, events and short breaks
Spending time relaxing at home
Developing practical skills for greater independence
Everyday experiences provide opportunities to practise skills, build confidence and take another step towards personal goals.
